Last summer, I started on a journey of self-discovery, leaving behind the comforts of city life to enjoy being alone in nature. With a backpack filled with necessaries and a heart full of hope, I set off to hike the ancient ways of the nearby mountains.
The first day was a test of strength as I climbed sharp paths under the burning sun. My legs ached, and my lungs burned with every breath. But with each step, I felt a growing sense of achievement. As the sun set below the view, I set up my tent beside a gentle stream, where the cool water comforted my tired body.
Alone with my thoughts, I found myself reflecting on my life’s journey. The challenges I had faced and the
victories I had won flashed before my eyes. I realized that, like the mountains, I had peaks(山峰) and valleys—times of struggle and success.
On the third day, I met with a fellow traveler, an elderly man who had hiked these paths for many years. He shared stories of his adventures and offered wisdom that resonated (产生共鸣) with my heart. We walked together for a while, our footsteps mixing with the sound of the wind.
As the journey neared its end, I stood on the highest peak and the world spread out before me. I felt a deeper connection to the universe, a sense of belonging that I had never experienced before. At that moment, I understood that my true self was not just a part of me, but a part of everything around me.
The hike back down was filled with a newfound sense of peace. I returned to my city life with a clearer view of my path and a deeper understanding of who I was. On the afternoon of September 10 , Huawei officially launched (发布) the world’s first mass-produced triple-fold (三折) smartphone, the Mate XT, at its event in Shenzhen. Its price starts at 19,999 yuan. Huawei also introduced two new cars, the AITO M9 five-seat and the Zhijie R7, creating excitement across the tech industry.
“This is the largest and thinnest phone in the world. My dream is to carry a tablet (平板) and a computer in my pocket,” said Yu Chengdong, the Executive Director, while showing the Mate XT on stage. Over the years, Huawei has made many improvements with different folding designs, including inward, outward, and vertical folds. The new triple-folding design not only changes the industry but also makes the types of smart cars unclear, turning
science fiction into reality.
The Mate XT can change between single-screen, double-screen, and triple-screen modes, giving users a different experience.
Experts believe that the launch of the Huawei Mate XT is a big step in folding screen technology, making it different from the upcoming iPhone 16. Reports say pre-orders for the Mate XT have been very popular, with more than 4.3 million people signing up to buy it. Its rarity has already caused prices to rise in the second-hand market, with some selling for over 100,000 yuan, showing its high demand.
Besides the smartphone launch, Huawei also broadened the possibilities of smart transportation by introducing two leading smart cars, the AITO M9 five-seat version and the Zhijie R7. These models show Huawei’s strong skills in self-driving technology and show the company’s promise to integrating(使一体化) AI into its products and changing the future of connected living. Together, these actions show Huawei’s open and creative way of welcome the time of the Internet of Everything.
28. What is the main feature(特点) of the Huawei Mate XT as described in the text
A. It can always be used as a tablet. B. It has a unique triple-folding design.

A. To make the largest smartphone in the world.
B. To reduce the need for smartphones altogether.
C. To have both a tablet and a computer in his pocket.
D. To create a smartphone that can also be used as a car.
30. What does the high demand of pre-orders for the Mate XT suggest
A. People are eager for creative devices.
B. The smartphone market is getting full.
C. Few people are interested in new technology.
D. The need for expensive smartphones is going down.
31. What do the new cars introduced by Huawei show
A. Huawei’s progress in phone technology.
B. Huawei’s plan to lower the smart car prices.
C. Huawei’s focus on traditional transportation methods.
D. Huawei’s use of smart features and self-driving technology.

High school can be challenging for everyone. You are going through an awkward time and you may either fit in right away or feel like a complete outcast. But no matter how well you may fit in (or not), joining a club will be helpful for you now and in the future.
Joining a club is a great way to meet new friends, especially if you are new at school. Being in a club encourages you to talk to people who share the same interests with you. Even if you are the shyest person, you are
sure to make friends with at least one person in the club you choose to join. From my own experience, I have made some of my best friends through after-school activities and have had many new opportunities.
Another good thing about joining a club is that taking part in activities looks great on college applications. Being known as outgoing is an important quality(品质); it shows that you are willing to try new things and be determined. It can also help you build skills that you might need during a college interview.
Many teens fight with staying productive. Most students go to school and then come home to spend the rest of the day in front of the TV or on their phones, but clubs help prevent this. Teens are also easily influenced, and if they join the wrong group, they might get into trouble. Clubs are a wonderful place to spend time with good friends who can support you if you need help.
Perhaps the most important reason to join a club is the long-term benefits (益处) it provides. The classroom is not the only place to learn in a school. Meeting and talking to new people, managing your time, and staying organized are skills you will use every day in your life.
32. What might the underlined word “outcast” in paragraph 1 mean
A. A person who is popular. B. A person who is not smart.
C. A person who is confident. D. A person who is not accepted.
33. What do colleges think highly of according to the text
A. The number of clubs you have joined.
B. The strong relationships you have built.
C. The bright personality you have developed.
D. The skills you have learned while forming a club.
34. What benefit of joining a club is talked about in paragraph 4
A. Increasing the knowledge. B. Learning team working skills.
C. Improving the fitness level. D. Making good use of the time.
35. What is the best title for the text
A. Why should you join a club
B. What club should you join
C. Should you join a second club
D. How should you join a club you like

On a sunny Saturday morning, our school had its sports day. Excited about the long-distance race, I had trained hard for weeks. The excitement wasn’t just about my preparation but the upcoming race against Jake, known for his speed.
As the race kicked off, the sound of pounding footsteps echoed(回响) across the track. Jake and I were neck-and-neck, cheered on by our classmates and leaving other runners behind. It was a race between Jake and me.
Suddenly, a strong crosswind added an unexpected challenge. Tiredness began to set in, challenging the stamina (耐力) I had developed through weeks of training. Jake and I struggled to keep our speed, battling not only against each other but also the weather. This unexpected change intensified (加剧) the competition, pushing both Jake and me to our limits.
With the finish line close, the wind seemed to pick up, making the last sprint(冲刺) even more challenging. I used every bit of energy, feeling the power of the wind against my efforts. Beside me, Jake powered his way, showing great determination. In those challenging moments, our competition turned into a shared struggle against the wind.
I was very short of breath and the thought of giving up flashed through my mind. At that moment Jake, breathing heavily, said to me, “Come on, Eric! Don’t give up!” Jake’s encouragement echoed in my ears, providing the power I needed to face the physical pain. “Together, Jake! We can make it!” I responded, drawing strength from our shared goal to finish the race. With each step, my thought of giving up went away further into the background.
The audience was at first caught up in the excitement of the competition but now they looked in amazement as we faced the challenges of the race.

Dear Jim,
I’m very glad to hear that you’re planning a trip to Beijing, Welcome! Here are some must-see tourist attractions that I highly recommend.
First, the Great Wall at Badaling, recognized as one of the wonders of the world, offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into China’s rich history. It is like a giant dragon perching on a vast land in the north of China. It is the crystallization of blood and sweat of ancient Chinese labors, the symbol of Chinese culture and the pride of Chinese nation. Second, Tiananmen Square, the largest city center square in the world, is a symbol of China’s political and cultural life. Don’t miss the Monument to the People’s Heroes and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall nearby.
I hope these suggestions will make your trip to Beijing unforgettable!
Yours truly,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
One possible version:
Jake and I crossed the finish line together. Our legs were weak, and our chests heaved with each breath we took. The crowd roared with cheers and applause. Our classmates rushed towards us, their faces beaming with pride. Jake and I looked at each other, smiling weakly. Jake held out a hand, and we shook in respect for the journey we had undertaken together. The wind still blew, but it no longer seemed so strong. Together, we had conquered it and this grueling race. Sweat dripped down our faces, mixing with the sense of achievement that filled us.
At this moment, I realized the true meaning of victory. It wasn’t just about crossing the finish line first or claiming a medal; it was about not giving up, the encouragement, and the friendships built along the way. The race had tested my limits, but it also showed me the power of teamwork and support. As I caught my breath, I felt grateful not only for the experience but also for the lesson it taught me: that in the face of challenges, it’s the strength we find in each other that truly leads to success. I believe this experience will stay with me forever and inspire me to face future challenges with courage and a positive attitude.
