Four years ago, l, a 17-year-old girl, arrived at Wellesley College. I cried when my parents dropped me off in my dormitory (宿舍). I thought to myself, "This is what loneliness feels like." Just at that time, I had forgotten how excited I was for college.
Four years has nearly passed, I am now 21 years old, just two months from graduating from college. In four years, I have experienced a lot, happy time, sad moment and ordinary days. How grateful I am for the ones who have shown me the way and taught me to be strong when I felt hopeless. How lucky I am to know that I have a home to return to.
Tomorrow, my mother turns 50. It is because of my mother that l've learned to love myself, to respect myself, and above all, to be a good person. Because of her, I have known that giving up is not and will not ever be a choice.

She is the first person I will call when I am sad, in trouble, or feeling blue. She will never lie to me to hurt my feelings.

Eat like a king in the morning, a prince at noon, and a peasant at night. This saying is all about the importance of breakfast. And now scientists can tell us just why it's so important. According to a study carried out at Imperial College London, UK, skipping the first meal of the day not only means you eat mor eat lunch, but also that your brain wants to find more unhealthy foods.
The study suggests that there is a special part of our brain called the orbitofrontal cortex(眶额皮层),which plays an important part in making choices about what we eat. It is used for identifying the taste of food, especially when skipping breakfast. It is more likely to target high-calorie foods when you're on an empty stomach.
Scientists did an experiment on this. Dr Tony Goldstone from Imperial College London, scanned (Ff#) the brains of 21 men and women, around the age of 25. On the first day, these people skipped breakfast before the scans. On the second day, they had cereal(谷物), bread and jam as breakfast. After the scan on both days, they had their lunch.
When the volunteers had skipped breakfast, they ate around 20 percent more at lunch, compared with days when they had eaten breakfast. Their brain scans also showed the orbitofrontal cortex was especially responsive to high-calorie foods. "We believe that bit identifies the value of foods - how pleasant, how delicious something is, " Goldstone told The Guardian.

The holiday is the season to be joyful. However, many people feel sad or worried during or after holidays. When such feeling is connected only with holidays and doesn't happen at other times of the year, it's often called holiday blues(忧郁).
____________This can be a result of money problems, extra activities, and stress around holidays. People can also have holiday blues for terrible relationships with family and being alone during the holidays. Much traffic jam around holidays can cause holiday blues, too.
Holiday blues can have you feeling like hiding instead of celebrating. They can also lead thinking patters(方式) that aren't helpful. For example, if you angrily shout at your kids, then you may think you're the worst mom. If you can't make cookies this year, you will think you're just not as nice as you used to be. If you make efforts to make money, you may feel you'll never be rich. So we shouldn't think little of holiday blues.
There are some very simple and useful ways to help people to deal with holiday blues. Start new traditions to your family. Don't be too hard on yourself. Take some time to volunteer. Take some time to take a bike ride, a relaxing walk, etc. Don't eat too much food — overeating can make your body sick and uncomfortable.
But if you have unshakable sadness or terribly hate eating, you may need to see a doctor. Let him check your degree of sadness or worries. Talking to someone may also help you feel better. But at other times you require medical treatment. Thus, you can shake the blues off and get back to the things about your life you do enjoy.
27. Which of the following can be put in the blank in Paragraph 2
A. What holiday blues do people usually have
B. Why do people have holiday blues
C. How do people with holiday blues feel
D. Who may have holiday blues
28. How does the writer show the terrible feelings caused by holiday blues
A. By giving some examples.
B. By showing his experiences.
C. By comparing different people.
D. By listing proper reasons.
29. What can help deal with holiday blues in paragraphs 4 and 5
A. Pushing yourself to be perfect.
B. Making efforts to make money.
C. Talking with some people.
D. Enjoying food as much as you can.
30. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage
