One of my most embarrassing experiences happened while I was traveling to Peru alone.
The trip took me through a beautiful desert. I was quite excited. I shared a car with four other people. At one point, I was sitting in the front seat and it was getting really hot in the car. Our driver only spoke Spanish, and I spoke wonderful Spanish, too—or at least I thought I did.
“Estoy caliente!” I said, looking right at the driver. To my surprise, instead of opening the window, he only looked at me in surprise.
I thought perhaps my New York accent (口音) made him confused (迷惑的). “Estoy caliente!” I said again, this time in a more local-sounding accent. He looked even more confused.
Suddenly, a native Spanish speaker in the back seat spoke up in English, “Umm, I guess you want to tell the driver you’re beautiful, right ”
I was so embarrassed. My face turned bright red. I explained what I meant to him in English. He laughed loudly. He talked with the driver in Spanish, and everyone else in the car laughed. Of course, the driver opened the window in the end.

Recently, city walk has become a popular way among people, especially the young, to get to know more about their own city in their free time.
Last weekend, I went on a city walk along the Bell Tower Street with my family after dinner. The street lies in Yingze District and is famous for its long history in Taiyuan. We started our walk from the east. There we saw many ancient buildings and got to know some historical and cultural stories about them. I also came into an old post office and bought some stamps. Our city walk ended up at ten o’clock and we really enjoyed ourselves in this way.
All in all, as a new way of travelling, city walk can provide us with a great chance to better experience the culture in our city. That is why city walk is so popular.
