Should cars be allowed in the city City centers are busy places. This means we need to do all we can to feel safe there.
As the number of cars increases, so does the number of health problems. The number of people with asthma (哮喘) has gone up by 40% in the past ten years. Overweight has also increased because people are not getting enough exercise. They drive instead of walking wherever they go.
Cars bring air pollution and stupid accidents. If cars are so detrimental, then why not keep them away from these crowded areas We can try walking, which doesn't kill anyone, or even a cheap bus ride. It's better than risking death every time we get into the city.
Many busy cities around the world have introduced park- and- ride programs. Cars park outside of the city and regular buses take people into the city center. This helps the city to become as car- free as possible. The city of Cambridge in England has been using such a program for many years.
Fred Holden is a traffic policeman in London. According to him, there are 200 needless, terrible road accidents in city centers every day. Something must change.
Holden is right. Asthma, overweight, injuries(伤) and deaths tell us that people and cars just do not mix. Our government needs to keep cars from entering city centers!

Dear Peter ,
I’m glad to receive your letter asking for my advice on how to learn Chinese well.
Here are a few suggestions. First, it is important to take a Chinese course, as you’ll be able to learn from the teacher and practice with your fellow students. Then, it also helps to watch TV and read books, newspapers and magazines in Chinese whenever possible. Besides, it should be a good idea to learn and sing Chinese songs, because by doing so you’ll learn and remember Chinese words more easily. You can also make more Chinese friends. They will tell you a lot about China and help you learn Chinese.
Try and write to me in Chinese next time. Best wishes!
Sincerely Yours,
