When astronauts (宇航员) are in space, they eat, sleep, wash, work and play. They do the same things as us on the Earth, but they do them differently.
On the Earth, we put food on a plate and water in a glass. Gravity holds the food down and keeps the water in the glass. But in space, there is almost no gravity. So food floats away, and astronauts must eat and drink carefully.
Sleeping is very difficult in space. Some astronauts like to float in the air, but most like to be in sleeping bags. They tie the bags to a wall.
Washing is difficult too. There is no shower or bath, so astronauts must use a sponge (海绵).
Exercise is very important in space. On the Earth, your legs carry your body, but in space, astronauts float, so they do not use their legs. This is very bad for their legs, so they have to exercise for thirty minutes every day. They often use an exercise bicycle for this.
After a day’s work, astronauts relax. They may listen to music, read books, watch films, play games or talk to their friends and families by radio. On the International Space Station, astronauts sometimes race from one end of the station to the other. The most popular pastime is looking out of the window, looking at space and watching the Earth.
41.Why does food not float on the Earth
