Fourthly, we must be able to make up sentences that are grammatically correct. We must know how to put sentences into paragraphs in order to write a good letter or article.
There is no easy way to succeed in learning a foreign language. A good memory(记忆力)is of much help, but it is not enough to simply remember rules from a grammar book. It is no much use learning long words and their meanings by heart.

Aristotle pointed out the four main qualities (特性) of money about 2, 000 years ago. It must be lasting and easy to recognize, to divide, and to carry about. In other words it must be, “durable, distinct, divisible and portable”. When we think of money today, we picture it either as round, flat pieces of metal which we call coins. or as printed paper notes. But there are still parts of the world today where coins and notes are of no use. They will buy nothing, and a traveller might go hungry if he had none of the particular local (当地) “money” to exchange for food.
Among separate peoples, who are not often reached by traders from outside, trading usually means barter (以物换物). There is a direct exchange of goods. Perhaps it is fish for vegetables, meat for grain, or various kinds of food in exchange for pots, baskets, or other goods. For this kind of simple trading, money is not needed, but there is often something that everyone wants and everyone can use, such as salt, shells (贝壳), or iron. These things—salt, shells or metals—are still used as money in out-of-the-way (偏远的) parts of the world today.
31.Aristotle said money should be ________.
A.made of metal B.durable, distinct, divisible and portable
C.2, 000 years old D.made of high-quality materials
32.Nowadays we think of money as ________.
A.made of either metal or paper B.pieces of metal
C.printed notepaper D.useful for hungry travelers

A.even if his money was of the local kind B.even if he had no coins or notes
C.if he did not know the local rate of exchange D.even if he had plenty of coins and notes
34.Barter usually takes the place of money transactions (交易) where ________.
A.there is only salt B.the people’s trading needs are pretty simple
C.metal tools are used D.money is unknown
35.Which of the following tells the main idea of the passage
A.Aristotle pointed out the chief qualities of money 2, 000 years ago.
B.The important qualities of money are defined (下定义) one after another.
C.Although money was defined 2, 000 years ago, there are places where barter is sometimes used.
D.It will be of great help if people use salt as money.

The brain is the most amazing part of our bodies. But just like our bodies, it needs care. Getting a good night’s sleep, eating a balanced diet and taking deep breaths are all important ways of looking after both your body and your brain.
Many people think their brain will slow down with age and their memory will get worse. The truth is, just like your body, you can also improve your brain. I’ve found I can improve my memory by picturing what I need to remember. For example, if I’m going shopping and I need bread, milk and a birthday card for my brother, I picture a loaf of bread, a bottle of milk with a cow in the front and a birthday card with a football on it.
The same kind of thing can be used with important dates. If you have a picture in your mind of a special event, it’s much easier to remember than just a number.
Another way of improving your mind is to make sure you often visit new places and have new experiences. I find learning Spanish is a great way to keep the brain working, but communication in any language is important.
36.What is the woman’s aim in telling her experience
A.To explain how the brain works. B.To talk about problems with the brain.
C.To describe how clever she has become. D.To tell ways to make the memory better.
37.What can we learn about the woman from the passage
A.She has a camera. B.She is learning another language.
C.She likes shopping. D.She enjoys travelling.
38.How does the woman improve her memory
A.By doing some medical research. B.By looking after her body.
C.By picturing what she needs to remember. D.By doing a lot of shopping.
39.What does the woman say about her own memory
A.It has been possible to make her memory better.
B.Dates are more difficult to remember than numbers.
C.It has got worse over the years.
D.She often forgets birthdays.
40.Which would be the best title for the passage
A.Easy Ways to Improve Your Mind
B.The Latest Research into the Brain
C.The Amazing Power of Memory
D.How to Remember Things You’d Forgotten

I once gave a lesson to a group of primary school students for a TV program.
I suggested that we create small gardens.
First, I asked the students to look for their favorite place in the school. 41 Then I had each of them describe their experiences of nature in a small garden.
In a box of about one and a half by two feet, they were free to organize—soil, stones, leaves and grass. Even as an active garden designer, I was impressed with their imagination. 42
One child created “water” that flowed into a “lake”; another child put grass in a way to represent “wind”; and yet another child tried hard to create shade... 43 That was why they took great interest when they created their small gardens. They spent a wonderful time together with nature.
44 If you notice a stone lying on the ground, pick it up and hold it. When you see beautiful flowers by the side of the road, stop and enjoy the pleasant smell.
Then, inside your mind, create a small garden of your own. 45
A.It will relax you.B.Flowers like these are all around you.C.The gardens were built many years ago.D.Try spending time with nature yourself.E.The gardens they made were really creative.F.Once there, I let them try hard to empty their minds.G.These children were often busy doing their schoolwork.

How to Keep Safe
Hello, everyone. Safety is very important for us. We should learn to protect ourselves. Here are some suggestions about how to keep safe.
Firstly, we must follow the traffic rules. Secondly, we should pay attention to the food safety. Be sure not to eat too much junk food. Thirdly, when we go to upstairs or downstairs, we should keep to the right side. Be careful while doing sports. Remember not to swim in the river alone. What’s more, we’d better not make friends online. We must stay away from dangerous people around.
If we get into trouble, we must keep calm and safe first and then call the police, the teachers or parents for help.
In a word, as students, we must always keep safety in mind and value our lives.
