A remarkable structure in a city often represents its history and development. Let's take a look at the story of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
If you'd lived in Paris between 1889 and 1930, you would have witnessed the world's tallest building. The Eiffel Tower was named after its chief builder, Gustave Eiffel, and was constructed in 1887 to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution. It remained the world's tallest building until 1931.
Today's towers of similar height are typically utilized for communication. Television, radio, and mobile phone companies rely on such towers to transmit their signals. However, the Eiffel Tower was built before the era of radio communication and even before the advent of the radio.
As one of the world's most renowned attractions, the tower has garnered significant attention, yet not all Parisians were receptive to it. The French writer Guy De Maupassant perhaps detested the building but dined at its restaurant daily. When asked why, he claimed that it was the sole place in the city where he couldn't catch a glimpse of the tower. During the years 1925 to 1930, the tower served as the world's largest advertisement, promoting cars for the French company, Citroen. When the German soldiers invaded Paris in 1940, the power of the elevator in the tower was cut off. Nevertheless, German soldiers still climbed all the way to the tower's summit to fly the swastika.
Compared to modern buildings, the Eiffel Tower may seem relatively small. Nevertheless, the romance endures, and the tower welcomes over 6 million visitors each year. To maintain its fresh appearance, workers repaint it every 8 years! The aging tower lives on.
Complete the sentenses:
The Eiffel Tower was built in ______.
The Eiffel Tower was named after ______.
The tower was used as the world's largest sign to advertise ______ from 1925 to 1930.
The power of the elevator in the tower was cut off when ______ attacked Paris in 1940.

It's a known fact that a black hole is very powerful. When you do the cleaning, watch closely because you will be able to see the dirt move towards the vacuum cleaner. A black hole is just like a vacuum cleaner, cleaning up what is left behind in outer space. A black hole has a very strong power, gravity, to pull things towards it.
When a large star runs out of fuel, it can no longer support its heavy weight. The star gets smaller and smaller, but its weight stays the same. You can understand this better by the following example. If you take a sponge which has the same size as a coffee cup, you can easily hide it completely in your hand. Here is the interesting part. Think: Once you make the sponge smaller, its power of gravity becomes much stronger. Imagine then, if you make a star into the size of a grain of sand, how powerful its gravity would become! Such a star then forms a black hole.
A black hole is so powerful that anything that gets too close to it, including light, will get pulled in. That's right. Even light can't escape from a black hole. You can leave the earth in a spaceship, but you can never leave a black hole once you get into it.

It's a fact that bitterness can cause problems when we can't forgive someone. Someone might say or do something that hurts us. But instead of controlling the anger, we keep it deep inside. Then a bitter feeling begins to grow.
Bitterness can not only cause serious health problems such as heart disease, but also hurt our relationships with friends and family members. No one enjoys being around an angry person for a long time.
If you see bitterness in your life, here are some ways to deal with it.
Accept It
Instead of trying to stay away from your anger, make it clear to yourself and accept it. See what it is and quickly deal with it.
Stop Making Excuses for It
You may feel you have the right to be angry. You may think you're right and the other person is wrong. You may even secretly enjoy making the other person look bad. But in the end, bitterness hurts you much more than the other person. The bitterness will hold you back, and the other person will go on with his or her life.
Forgive and Forget It
You probably can't completely put the anger out of your mind. But you can decide to forgive the other person. Forget it and move on. You'll enjoy better health and a quiet mind.
Ture or False:
( ) 1. Bitterness can only cause health problems and has no influence on relationships.
( ) 2. When someone hurts us, we should express our anger immediately.
( ) 3. It's a good way to stay away from your anger when you feel bitter.

A long time ago, my father told me a story about helping a person who was hurt very badly after being hit by a car.
Early in the morning, he was going to work. He was in a hurry because that day he had an important meeting. Suddenly, he saw a man lying on the street and the man was bleeding. Nobody helped him. Some people just drove by in their cars, looked at him and then went away. My father didn't think twice to help him and took him to the nearest hospital. He was afraid that the person would die because of losing too much blood.
The strange thing happened when my father was going to go back to work. The police stopped him and said he couldn't leave the hospital until the man woke up. The police thought that my father had hit him on the street. Although my father was unhappy about that, he couldn't do anything.
Fortunately, the person woke up four hours later and talked to the police, and then my father was allowed to go. He left the hospital happily. He felt happy because he had saved the person, but at the same time he felt worried because if the person had died, he would have had big problems.

Is there an easy way to make reading a part of children's daily life Even when it's difficult to find time to sit down with a book.
Finding time to read is very important for all children. Reading chances are everywhere you go. Are train trips, waiting for a bus, after-dinner time and bedtime good opportunities for reading Keep books or magazines in your car, bag, and backpack to take out whenever you're going to be in one place for a while.
Even daily activities like cooking can offer reading moments. Can you read recipes aloud to younger kids, and can older kids read recipes to help you cook by telling you how much food you need Ask friends to send your children letters, e-mails, or text messages, and read them together. Help your children create letters or messages to send back to the friends. These activities help kids see the importance of reading.
Even when you're trying to get things done, you can encourage them to read. While cleaning, for example, can you ask your children to read a favorite book to you Younger kids can talk to you about the pictures in their favorite books.
Make sure kids get some time to spend quietly with books, even if it means reducing other activities, like watching TV or playing video games.
Most importantly, be a reader yourself. Kids who see their parents read are likely to imitate them and become readers, too!
