Metaura Pro claims to be the world’s first wearable air-conditioning device capable of constantly blowing cold air to keep the wearer cool.
Conventional wearable cooling systems only circulate the surrounding air, and thus don’t do a very good job of cooling people down. The stronger the wind blows, the hotter you get. This is definitely not what you want during those hot summer days. Metaura Pro, on the other hand, relies on a cooling solution to produce genuinely cold air that is 7 degrees Fahrenheit (华氏的) cooler than that of the surrounding area, in fan mode, and up to 18 degrees Fahrenheit cooler than the surrounding air, in cooling mode. The device has a smart app and relies on artificial intelligence to regulate air temperature.
Metaura Pro is driven by a powerful motor and its cooling modules are made up of 26 lightweight flat objects that wrap around the wearer’s neck and help to reduce heat. The motor is linked to a high-speed fan at the back of the device which also drives away some of that warm air around the neck. The device also has a VC plate, which has a liquid-cooled, heat-equalizing mechanism, efficiently creating a temperature differential between hot and cold temperatures.
“What sets Metaura Pro apart from the competition is that it produces genuinely cold air lower than the surrounding temperature, refreshing you during those dog days of summer,” the Metaura Pro Kickstarter crowdfunding page reads.
Metaura Pro not only supplies a cooling function, but also has the capacity for heating as well in winter, it can be used to warm your body to a comfortable temperature, when the surrounding air feels cold.
The device intelligently monitors itself, so when you take it off, it recognizes that it is no longer in use and will automatically shut off and switch to standby mode to save power consumption. Metaura Pro wearable collar is powered by a chargeable battery that can provide only 3 hours of cooling on a single charge. The device weighs 435 grams, which is not heavy, but definitely noticeable.
8.How does Metaura Pro manage to keep people cool
A.By dropping the body temperature.
B.By circulating the surrounding air.
C.By producing lower-temperature air.
D.By blowing the strong wind around.
9.What is mainly discussed about Metaura Pro in paragraph 3
A.Its internal structure. B.Its operating costs.
C.Its amazing function. D.Its working principle.
10.What may be the disadvantage of the device
A.It puts limitation on cooling function.
B.It switches to different modes by hand.
C.It possesses a relatively short battery life.
D.It depends much on outdoor temperatures.
11.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.A double-mode smart phone app
B.A cooling air-conditioning system
C.A rechargeable battery for e-products
D.A wearable temperature-adjusting device

It’s common nowadays for people to schedule a fitness plan. Whatever the drive behind it, whether health-related, performance-related or just plain vainglory (虚荣心), it is not uncommon for people to take regular exercise.
But if you’ve never done it before, what’s the best way to go about it Well, many people make use of a PT — that’s a personal trainer. This might be because they’re wet behind the ears or maybe they just don’t want the trouble of designing their own workout plan. A PT will create a plan based on the aim of an individual. They will tailor it to your current abilities and, better still, they will teach you how to move in a proper way.
However, the trade-off with a PT is the price. Each hourly session can be steep considering the double whammy of having to pay both the PT and membership of the gym. If you are at all strapped for cash then regular sessions might be out of your budget.
So what’s left Well, if you have the grit for it, you can make your own plan. It’s relatively easy to do if you have the know-how. But before you do, here are some basic pointers.
First, keep your fitness goal in mind. Are you looking to slim down, bulk up, or get shredded Whatever it is, make sure you choose to be in pursuit of that goal. Next, do your research. Social media is full of fitness videos and advice. Watch as many as possible, but make sure to be critical of them — everyone has a different body. Finally, keep your feet on the ground. Be patient with yourself and set realistic goals — it takes at least three months to see realistic body changes. A good workout is difficult and challenging, but never painful. Pain means you are damaging yourself.
12.What drives people to go to the gym
A.To keep a fit figure. B.To make friends.
C.To avoid vainglory. D.To become a celebrity.
13.What kind of person would choose a PT
A.A student short of budget. B.A busy workaholic.
C.A green hand in exercise. D.A professional athlete.
14.What should be paid attention to while making our own fitness plan
A.Bear in mind our fitness goals. B.Be a member of the gym.
C.Set a training timeline. D.Watch latest fitness videos.
15.What’s the text about
A.The necessity of exercise. B.How to make a fitness plan.
C.The practical skills of workout. D.How to be a personal trainer.

If you understand the fable of the frog in the boiling water, it is time to learn how to avoid becoming the frog and make positive changes so that you can succeed and live your dream life. Here are a few tips you can follow.
16 You don’t want to go through every day without having a clear direction. The first thing you want to do to create a better future is to identify what kind of future you desire. Once you have a clear direction, you can run as fast as you can to get there.
Make a plan and work on it every day. Besides knowing what you want, you need to also know what you need to do to get there. 17 Every one of us wants to have a better future, but most people don’t know what to do to get there. This is why having a plan is important. Once you have a plan, all you need to do is stick to your plan and take massive action.
Take consistent action. Identifying your goals and knowing your plan is just a foundation step to achieving the success you want. You also need to take action and work on your goals if you want to achieve them. 18
Improve yourself regularly. Just like your phone, you update your mobile phone from time to time so that the software is the latest. 19 Constantly update and improve yourself so that you can perform at your best. If you want to be financially rich, you can’t just do nothing about your finances. 20 You need to learn how to manage your wealth too.
Always remember the story of the frog in the boiling water. And follow the tips I shared about to “hedge” yourself against the impact of gradual changes.
A.Create your future today, not tomorrow.
B.You need to track, plan, invest, and save.
C.You need to do the same to yourself.
D.Set a goal and never turn aside along the way.
E.Therefore, create an action plan for your goal.
F.Avoiding being “cooked” in an environment matters.
G.You can’t think about your dream, just praying over there.

47.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的。
Katie was happily jumping rope on the grass in front of her house facing the expansive city park just across the road. The neighborhood residents often enjoyed walking around the lake in the park, and on this pleasant day, with the sun casting its warm light, Katie spent the unhurried moments devoted to her jumping routine.
Her thoughts were focused on her jumping: how to match the spinning of the jump rope in her hands and the jumping of her feet so that they didn’t get mixed, causing her to trip. When her mind and muscles were working together, and when every move flowed smoothly, all of it felt pretty good in the afternoon sunshine. While jumping, she remembered that her grandmother had given her the jump rope for Christmas. She knew that her grandmother didn’t have a lot of money and had to save up to buy the jump rope for her. Before Christmas, her grandmother had taken her to some toy shops to look at different things, hoping to find out what Katie wanted. When Katie finally got the gift, it was not just a jump rope but the very jump rope she had wanted for a long time. She felt especially loved by her considerate grandmother.
The warmth of the afternoon sun enhanced the joy Katie felt as she skipped along. Suddenly a boy rushed across the road to her. Without any warning he robbed her of her jump rope, shouting, “Give me that” and raced back across the road towards the park.
Empty-handed, Katie was left in confusion. It took her a while to recover from the shock. When she came to her senses and realized the theft of her grandma’s gift, tear swelled up. A wave of anger and disappointment swept over her. But in that moment of upset, something unusual in the park captured her attention.

An earthquake emergency evacuation drill
To instruct students how to survive an earthquake, today all the teachers and students in our school participated in an earthquake emergency evacuation drill.
At first, the teachers gave us some instructions in the classroom and told us how to prevent ourselves from being injured once an earthquake happened. After that, they told us that we should run safely down the stairs the moment we heard the bell ring. Under teachers’ guidance, all the students ran to the playground smoothly in a few minutes.
This drill was a valuable chance for us to learn how to deal with emergencies when we meet an earthquake. It was really impressive and we all benefited a lot from it.
47.
Following the boy quickly, she spotted a group of kids crying anxiously by the lake. The boy who had taken her jump rope was sprinting towards them. As Katie neared the water, she saw, to her horror, a little girl was struggling in the water. The boy was throwing one end of Katie’s jump rope out for the child to grab. Fortunately, the little girl caught hold of it. Without a moment’s hesitation, Katie stepped forward to lend a helping hand. Working in tandem, they pulled the child onto the bank.
After making sure the drowning girl was okay, the boy walked up to Katie with the jump rope. Handing it to Katie, he gave a shy smile and apologized, “I’m sorry if I frightened you just now, but I had to act quickly in an emergency. I can’t swim, you know. It was your jump rope that served as a lifeline.” Katie’s initial anger had transformed into appreciation for the boy’s quick response to save the little girl. She replied she didn’t mind her jump rope being snatched at all. Instead, she was glad about the part her jump rope had played in the rescue.
