文章大意:本文为一篇记叙文,讲述了加拿大航天员Chris Hadfield小时候看到阿波罗11号登录月球后,励志成为一名宇航员的故事。
In 1969, watching the landing of Apollo 11 on the Moon on TV from his parents’ farm in Canada, Chris Hadfield was amazed and excited. On that day, at only nine years old, Chris made the most important decision of his life: He was going to be an astronaut.
There wasn’t even a training program in Canada to become an astronaut, but Chris was determined. He spent a great deal of time studying and fixing engines. After school he joined the Canadian army where he learned to fly many different types of planes. Chris did a lot of research for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA)in the United States and had special training. Finally, in 1995, he rode his first rocket into space.
Chris became the first Canadian astronaut to walk in space, and went on a number of space missions throughout his career. Today, Chris travels the world giving talks about his work. He once said, “Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and challenges you, and start moving your life in that direction. Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow. Look at who you want to be, and start sculpting yourself into that person. You may not get exactly where you thought you’d be, but you will be doing things that suit you in a profession you believe in. Don’t let life randomly kick you into the adult you don’t want to become. ”

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要讲述的是一项研究发现,经常喝茶的人比不喝茶的人寿命更长。
The world is full of tea drinkers. For many, they simply enjoy the taste. But new research suggests tea might help those who drink it live longer than those who do not. Tea is known to contain substances (物质) that can help reduce inflammation (炎症). Past studies in China and Japan have suggested several health benefits of green tea. Now, scientists say black tea may show similar benefits.
Scientists from the United States National Cancer Institute carried out the study. They examined years of data gathered about the tea-drinking behavior of almost 500, 000 adults in Britain, where black tea is the most common tea. The study found that high tea intake (摄取量) — two or more cups a day — was linked to a moderate benefit: a 9 to 13 percent lower risk of death from any cause than non-tea drinkers. Scientists say the lowered risk of death held true for study subjects with heart disease. However, researchers said there was no clear finding in connection with deaths from cancer.
Tea contains various elements, including polyphenols (多酚), Polyphenols are considered responsible for the health benefits that have traditionally been linked to tea, especially green tea. Green tea is reported to improve mental ability, alleviate digestive problems and head pain, and help people with weight loss. It has also been studied for possible protective effects against heart disease and cancer.
However, the study of British tea drinkers was based on observing people’s behaviors and health. This kind of method cannot prove cause and effect. “Observational studies like this always raise the question: Is there something else that makes tea drinkers healthier ” said Marion Nestle, a professor of food studies at New York University. “The study does not offer enough evidence to advise people to change their tea behaviors. If you drink one cup a day already, I think that is good,” said Inoue Choi, who led the study.
8. What does the new study mainly focus on
A.The effects of tea on health. B.The popularity of tea culture.
C.The harmful substances in tea. D.The right amount of tea intake.
9. According to the study, people with high tea intake are likely to ______.
A.stay focused B.develop cancer
C.get heart disease D.have a lower risk of death
10. What does the underlined word “alleviate” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A.Cause. B.Worsen. C.Relieve. D.Hide.
11. What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph
A.To provide advice on how to drink tea.
B.To point out the possible limitations of the study.
C.To stress the significance of the research findings.
D.To offer additional evidence for the research results.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章分析了改编电影令人失望的一些原因。
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
It’s normal to have high 36 (expect) when a film of a favourite book is made. The source material for a film may 37 (take) from classic novels, short stories, etc. All can work well, but why do some adaptations get 7 38 (low) ratings than others
A key question is 39 (obvious) how close to the original the film is. Since a typical film is only around two hours long, it becomes a question for screenwriters to decide 40 is appropriate for the screen and what 41 (leave) out. Another problem area is the cast. 42 (find) actors acceptable to film audiences can mean the difference between success and failure. Some books are just too difficult to be adapted for technical reasons. One may think that it is the book writer who is in the best position to do film adaptations, 43 can actually be a disadvantage because they may be too close to the material and find it difficult to adapt 44 a new form. Despite the challenges, there have been some highly successful films 45 (make) from popularbooks.

Dad and Madison were walking through the party store, gathering decorations for Madison’s upcoming birthday party.
“But I don’t want to invite Lucy Gilbert! I don’t like her!”
“Madison, you are being unreasonable. If every girl in your class is invited to a party but you, you’ll feel left out. It would be a big mistake not toinvite Lucy to the party. ”“She never even talks to me! ”
Dad sighed and moved down the aisle ( 走廊). “Lucy is a new girl in class. She just moved here a little over a month ago. Think about how that must feel. She doesn’t know one single person in the school. She left all of her old friends behind and now she has to try to make new friends. Your party will be a great chance for her to get to know everyone. ”
“No, it won’t. She will probably sit in the corner and not talk to anyone. Every day at lunch she sits all by herself. She wants to eat alone!" Madison shrugged and rolled her eyes (翻白眼).
“Madison, I’m done discussing this. You will invite every girl in your class, including Lucy Gilbert!"
On Saturday morning, the family blew up balloons and decorated the house cheerfully. Madison was dressed beautifully for the day, wearing her new blue dress. It was not typical of her to dress herself like this. She usually wore sports clothes because she loved to be outside riding her horse Star with a lead rope (缰绳).
Madison greeted her friends at the doorstep, picturing (想象)various presents her friends would bring her. In the meanwhile, she was wondering whether Lucy would ruin the party if she came. Anyhow, all the girls she invited came finally, including Lucy. The girls had a fantastic time by singing and dancing while Lucy sat in the corner silently alone. Later, all the girls gathered around the table as Madison opened her presents. Opening them one by one, Madison thanked her friends, with a bright smile on her face.
