In 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed (提议) the initiatives (倡议) of jointly building a Silk Road Economic Belt and a 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, which became known as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI, “一带一路”倡议). Since then the BRI has gone through a long journey of growth. This year marks its 10th anniversary (周年纪念) of the BRI.

But now, he can enjoy the childhood joy all the time. He said that thanks to the BRI, an international center for cross-border cooperation (合作) was set up. “The center helped many people to improve their way of life. They made new houses, schools and also built roads,” said Bekmurzayev.

However, some children are spending too much money on livestream platforms. Earlier this year, a 17-year-old boy in Jingmen, Hubei province, sent tips that added up to 150, 000 yuan to a host, said Chutian Metropolis Daily. That sum of money was his parents’ life savings.
To prevent things like this from happening again, the National Radio and Television Administration introduced a new rule on Nov. 23 to better manage livestreaming services.
The rule bans children from tipping or sending gifts to livestream hosts and performers. It also requires people to log on livestreaming sites with their real names. This new regulation has been welcomed by parents. According to Legal Daily, about one-fifth of five stream viewers in 2019 were children.
“Online shows and livestreaming have become so popular. I always feel worried that my son might become addicted to them or do something that is harmful to his growth.” said Wang Haifeng, a mother of a 15-year-old boy in Beijing. “Stricter management makes me feel safer.”
In addition to the rule, there are some other measures that will be put in place to help manage livestreaming services.
For example, livestreaming platforms will be required to put a limit on how much money people can send to livestreamers. Once the limit is reached, viewers will not be able to send gifts or tips.

For young people who grow up in villages, finding a job in the city sounds good. But Ning Fenfang, 34, left the big city to be a farmer. In 2017, she left her job in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and went back to her hometown of Cili County in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province. At that time, much of the farmland there was deserted (被遗弃). Seeing this, Ning decided to be a farmer. She started with growing rice and rape seed (油菜籽) in 2020 and hired many villagers to work on her land, providing jobs for local people.

As the BRI continues to bring the world together, young people from the Belt and Road countries see how it continues to develop and have a deeper understanding of it.
Lashyn Zeiin, a Kazakh (哈萨克的) student at Nazarbayev University, said that in 2013 she visited China. “To me, it was an amazing new world with beautiful landscapes and dynamic (多元的) cultures,” she said. She then decided to continue learning Chinese.
Thandi Mtsetwene, 22, from South Africa, said that now South African people are arguing how the country’s future will benefit from economic interdependence (经济上的相互依赖) brought by the BRI. “I am in support of a win-win relationship brought by the BRI, which also widens and deepens the connections all over the world,” she added.
In fact, the BRI has brought about great changes to the Belt and Road countries.
Temelidi Yulia from Russia said that the BRI has encouraged cultural exchanges between her country and the rest of the world. For example, “China and Russia both invite guests from each other to perform (展示) their own culture. In this way, people in these two countries can understand each other’s culture,” said Yulia.
Kairat Bekmurzayev from Kazakhstan grew up in a small town that is 35 km away from the border (边境) with China. When he was little, Bekmurzayev always waited for his father who worked in China to bring candies and new toys.

(2024·广东广州·二模)Livestreaming (直播) has become very common in China. Viewers can interact with hosts by messaging them, buying them gifts, or sending them tips(打赏).
Other rules include stopping livestreaming platforms from encouraging viewers to send gifts or tips. Any host who is found doing this will be added to a blacklist, China Daily reported.

Ning now farms more than 66.7 hectares (公顷) of land. More than 300 housewives have worked part-time on her land, each making more than 10,000 yuan per year. “It’s never easy,” said Ning.
