Did you get spanked(打屁股) by your parents when you were a child Do you still remember how you felt inside Anyhow, let's see some researches about punishment on children together.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) (儿科) said parents who punish their children can do harm to the children in many ways. It's proved that different types of punishment, such as shouting at children, shaming children or some physical punishment are useful in the short-term, not in the long-term. And physical punishment can lead to an increased risk of negative behavioral, cognitive (认知的) and emotional results for children.
Dr.Jennifer Shu, both a pediatrician and a writer, presented the AAP's findings and showed that spankings is harmful than good when it comes to a child's development. “Physical punishment may cause learning problems, problems with vocabulary and memory, and some aggressive (攻击性的) behavior. Even the brain may not grow or develop with physical punishment.” said Shu.
Language Violence(暴力) found by AAP is harmful to a child's health as well. It can change the brain structure, cause stress and lead to health problems as well as emotional problems during children's growth.
So how can we raise healthy children with effective punishment There are two less harmful ways: rewarding good behavior and keeping consistent(一致) with expectations. After taking a break, parents can take a deep breath and help the children calm down, and then see why that behavior was not good.
We do need to avoid ineffective punishment on children because it does great harm to children's mind and body. It's time to say no. It's time to change.

Shylock was sharpening his knife, preparing to take Antonio’s pound of flesh. Portia and Nerrisa arrived disguised as men. Portia pretended she was a judge and listened to the arguments about the pound of flesh.
The young judge asked Shylock to be mercy on Antonio, but shylock disagreed. Shylock said, “I will show no mercy. I want justice, the penalty written in the contract!” Bassanio wanted to give Shylock ten times the money Antonio borrowed, even including his hands, heads or heart. This time, Portia disagreed. She thought they couldn't change the law of Venice. They must obey it. Portia asked Antonio to prepare his body for Shylock's knife. Shylock was very happy. He said the judge was much older in wisdom than in years.
At that moment, Bassanio remembered Antonio borrowed money from Shylock to help him court Portia. His friend was going to die. Bassanio would do anything to save his friend. He would die in his place or give up his wife if it could help. On the other hand, Antonio felt happy. He said he was lucky because he would never grow old and sick. He comforted Bassanio.
But Shylock's dream didn't come true. Portia said Shylock could take Antonio’s pound of flesh, but he could not take any blood, or he would lose everything. Shylock decided not to take the flesh but ninety thousand dollars. Portia disagreed. Shylock said he just wanted his own money back without charging the interest. Portia still disagreed. She said according to the law, if anyone planned to kill a citizen of Venice, he would lose everything. And the duke was the only person who could save him from death. The duke said Shylock must first become a Christian. If Shylock didn't do so, the duke would not have mercy on him, and Shylock would die. Shylock realized he had no choice. He agreed.

As I enter my 40s, I’ve noticed many of my parents’ generation think social networking is something they are simply unable to understand. They fear that, should they try, they will somehow get it wrong; they will say the wrong thing, do the wrong thing or behave in a way that causes embarrassment(尴尬). But here’s the first secret of social media: Everyone feels this way.
I recently met a young actor who was complaining that her work needs that she joins Microblog, but she always feels like she doesn’t have anything smart to say. It’s the same resistance(抵制) I hear from the older generation, who, however, have somehow believed that age is the barrier(障碍), instead of the differences of personal taste.___①___
Here’s the second secret of social media: everybody uses it for more or less the same reasons. ___②___.Older generations often sign up to stay in touch with children and relatives. We talk about this kind of communication like it’s some old-fashioned activity, but it is exactly why younger people use social media. The truth is that most people use social media to gently keep an eye on one another, to see how those they care about are doing without needing to ring them up on the phone every night.___③___.
And this is the last secret of social media: everyone gets to use them in their own way. Newcomers—younger and older—who worry about “getting it right” are thinking that there’s a right way to get them. But actually there isn’t. Personally, I talk a lot on Microblog. And some people post nothing and they use social media every day as readers. Social media companies would rather see people decorating their networks with pictures and posts. ___④___. It’s also a fine way to take part in the net.
I’d never try forcing those with no interest in social networks to use Microblog. But don’t let the talk of age divides put you off. There’s nothing to stop the older generation from joining in the network their own generation created.
62. Which is a reason for old people’s fear using social media according to the author
A. They have no special interest in social networking.
B. They prefer staying in touch with relatives in real life.
C. They believe they may fall into embarrassing situations.
D. They have no idea what to post online.
63. Where can the sentence “But there’s no rule against being a fly on the wall”be put in
A.① B. ② C. ③ D. ④
64. Which of the following may best describe the structure of this passage
① B. ①②③④ C. ①②③④ D. ①②③④
②③④
⑤⑤⑤⑤
65. What’s the author’s purpose of writing this passage
A. To share with us his personal experience using social media.
B. To free the old generation from fearing using social media.
C. To explain why the old generation don’t use social media.
D. To tell use few secrets of social media that he discovered.

五、阅读与表达(共5小题;每小题2分,计10分)(每题答案不超过10个字)
Are you sometimes a little tired and sleepy in the early afternoon Many people feel this way after lunch. They may think that eating lunch is the cause of the sleepiness. Or, in summer, they may think it is the heat. However, the real reason lies inside their bodies. At that time—about eight hours after you get up—your body temperature goes down. This is what makes you slow down and feel sleepy.
Scientists have tested sleep habits in experiments where there was no night or day. The people in these experiments almost always followed a similar sleeping pattern. They slept for one long period and then for one short period about eight hours later.
In many parts of the world, people take naps in the middle of the day. This is especially true in warmer climates, where the heat makes work difficult in the early afternoon. Researchers are now saying that naps are good for everyone in any climate. A daily nap gives one a more rested body and mind and therefore is good for health in general. In countries where naps are traditional, people often suffer(遭受) less from problems such as heart disease. Many working people, unfortunately, have no time to take naps. Though doctors may advise taking naps, employers (雇主) do not allow it!
If you do have the chance, however, here are a few tips about making the most of your nap. Remember that the best time to take a nap is about eight hours after you get up. A short sleep too late in the day may only make you feel more tired and sleepy afterward. This can also happen if you sleep for too long. If you do not have enough time, try a short nap—even ten minutes of sleep can be helpful.

I feel really sad these days because of the English test last week. I got a C in it. And my parents were a little angry. My English teacher said I did well in reading and writing, but I was poor in listening. So I asked him for help. He gave me some suggestions to improve my listening skills. Firstly, before I start to listen to something, I need to relax. I shouldn’t get nervous or excited. Secondly, listen carefully to the first sentence. The first sentence tells a lot about the whole passage. Thirdly, when you’re listening, try to do some thinking. This way you may understand the passage better. Fourthly, listen for just the key words. Finally, don’t think about one or two words for too long. You may hear some words that you don’t know, but don’t spend too much time on them, or you’ll miss more. I hope I can get good grades in the English test next Friday.
