I can still remember how much fun I had riding around my neighborhood when I was young.
I got a bike from my cousin when I was 9. It was red with a blue light on the front of it. It had a bell(铃) with a yellow rope on it that I could ring as I rode around. My next-door neighbor was a girl and she had a pink bike. We rode our bikes together eve ry Saturday and Sunday. It was really exciting. We made up all kinds of games to play with our bikes. Lao She wrote Teahouse in 1957. The play(剧本) shows the life in China between 1898and 1945. It takes place in a teahouse in old Beijing and it tells us the story of Wang Lifa and his customers(顾客). It asks us to see the teahouse as the center of the neighborhood. Finally,it says goodbye to old Beijing and its people.
The story starts in 1898 during the Qing Dynasty.It continues in 1916, and finally, it brings the audience(观众) to the end of 1945. After that year,Wang loses the teahouse and he dies.
Lao She was born in Beijing in 1899. His parents sent him to the old-style school in Beijing when he was a child. When he went to university, he learned to teach. From 1924 to 1929 he taught Chinese to the English in London. He wrote many plays and short stories. He was named the “People's Artist” and “Great Master of Language”. He was one of the greatest Chinese writers of the 20th century.
