In 1882, builders began working on a large church(教堂)in Barcelona, Spain. Today, more than 130 years later, it’s still not finished! But that doesn’t stop 2,000,000 people visiting it every year.
The Sagrada Familia church, with its many tall towers, is the most famous work of the architect(建筑师) Antoni Gaudi. Born in 1852, Gaudi grew up in Catalonia in the northeast of Spain. When he was a young man, he loved to ride or take long walks in the country. When he became an architect, he used this love of nature to create some very unusual buildings. Many of them look like they are shaped by wind or water, like rocks in the nature.
Antonio Gaudi is famous for his understanding of structure and decoration(结构与装饰)using color, light, and sculpture. His work has been widely studied around the world. Many of Gaudi’s buildings are brown or grey, like the earth. But he is also famous for his bright colors. He often used broken pieces of glass to create beautiful things. There are many examples of these in the Park Guell, a park he designed(设计)in Barcelona. There’s a long seat in the shape of a sea snake. Gaudi also created two houses in the park that look like cakes! Barcelona has many examples of Gaudi’s strange and wonderful buildings, and many people visit the city just to see them.
When Gaudi died in 1926, only a quarter of the building work of Sagrada Familia was finished. At that time, there was little money to keep on building it. Then Spain went to war. Work began again in the 1950s after the war. But the unusual and complicated(复杂的)design of the building has made the work slow and expensive. In 2013, it was still only half-finished. Many people hope that it will be finished in 2026, a hundred years after Antoni Gaudi’s death. But there’s still a very long way to go. People will never forget such a great architect and his works.

66.例文
What will our city be like in 2050 I think it will be quite different from now. The living environment will be greatly improved in the following ways.
The houses will be both green and smart. Everything will be made by environmental-friendly materials. What’s more, the house will be connected to the shops and hospitals so that you can order all kinds of services without going out. Most of the time people will work at home and they will have fewer working hours because of new technologies. If you want to go travelling, there will be no traffic jam at all. You can take different kinds of transportations, such as the flying buses and the driverless cars. The most exciting thing for students will be the widely use of E-books and VR technology at school. As a result, there will be paperless exams and more fun in learning.
Our city in 2050 will be full of hope and we should work hard to realize it.
