Are you going to high school to go on with your study? What will you do if you can't?Don't worry. Vocational(职业的)schools are open for you because our country is in need of people with special skills.

In one’s life, one spends the most time being with oneself. However, one has the least understanding of oneself. When you are successful, you may be very proud. But when you fail, you may lose heart. If you don’t get a better understanding of yourself, you may miss many chances in life and easily get into trouble.
To get a better understanding of yourself is to know about yourself well. You should realize your strong points and weak ones. You may hope for a wonderful future, but be sure not to expect too much because not all dreams can come true. You may be confident enough to meet challenges, but first you should know what to do.
Getting a better understanding of yourself needs self-appreciation. Maybe you think you are a tall tree or just small grass, but you can always have your own way of being there. As soon as you get full confidence in yourself, you are sure to face any trouble.
To get a better understanding of yourself also means taking care of yourself. When you are angry, find a quiet place so that you can control your own temper and not hurt yourself. When you are sad, tell your friends about it to change the mood(情绪)into a good one. When you are tired, get a good sleep till you get relaxed. If you don’t know when and how you should look after yourself, you won’t be able to stay away from illnesses.

Every day when I enter the classroom, I will take a look at the wall beside my seat. You will find nothing special about this old wall if you just look at it. But for the students in my class, it is a special wall. Take a good look at it, and you will get to know the real feelings and thoughts of us, the 9th graders.
In the middle of the wall there is a big “VICTORY”. It was written in pencil. I guess it must have been written by someone who got a good mark in an exam.
A little higher above the formulas (公式), there is a poem. It only has two sentences. It reads: All those sweet memories have disappeared. Like tears dropping in the heavy rain.
Oh! It must have been written at the end of the last semester (学期) in middle school. Classmates had to leave school and good friends had to part. What a sad poem!
If you “explore” the wall more carefully, you will find many other interesting things, like a crying face, or a happy face, and other patterns (图案). There are still some patterns and letters that I can’t understand, but they all show the feelings of the students who drew them.
For years, the wall has witnessed (目睹) all the things that have happened in the classroom. I don’t know how it will be next year, two years from now, or even ten years from now. But I hope more smiling faces will be drawn on it.
根据短文内容,判断下列各句正(T)误(F)。
( )96.There are few letters and pictures on the wall.
( )97.The writer can understand the patterns on the wall.
( )98.There is a big “VICTORY” in the center of the wall.
( )99.The patterns and letters on the wall show the feelings of the students who drew them.
( )100.The writer hopes more smiling faces will be drawn on the wall.

A young girl sits at her desk, doing her homework. English: Read three chapters and write a report. Math: Complete 30 problems. Science: Do some exercises, about two pages. French : Study new words for tomorrow’s test. It’s going to be a long night again. This happens to students in many parts of the world. Now it’s time to start a homework revolution (变革).
Do students in the United States receive too much homework According to the National Education Association, an American student should be given no more than 10 minutes’ homework per grade level per night. For example, a first grader should only have 10 minutes of homework, a second grader, 20 minutes, and so on. This means that a student in grade nine should have no more than ① ______ minutes of homework each night. However, this is often doubled, sometimes even worse!
It’s no good giving students too much homework. According to the research. kids are developing more illnesses at school, such as stomachaches, headaches and sleep problems than before.
Everybody knows that ② ______ teachers are the ones who give students homework, they are not the only ones who should be responsible for this. “Many teachers are under greater pressure than ever before,” says Kylee Beers, President of the National Council for teachers of English, “Some of it comes from parents, some from the wish for high scores on tests.” Teachers who are under pressure feel they need to give students more homework. This is one of the reasons why they give more homework to students.
Some people have different ideas. saying that homework prepares kids for doing better in school and getting a better job in the future.
