Most of the delicious fruits we eat today might not look or taste like their wild ancestors (祖先) at all. They are popular after going through many rounds of development over a long period of time in different parts of the world.
Tomatoes were first grown in the western parts of South America. Though the Spanish and Italians began eating tomatoes in the 18th century, the British and Americans continue to avoid them because people believed that tomatoes are poisonous. After that, it took until the 19th century for Americans to begin using it in cooking. Tomatoes were only used as decorative plants in gardens in China until the early 1900s. Since then it has quickly become a popular kitchen main stay in China.
Peaches are a very old plant. Surprisingly they have the same outer skin as fossils (化石) from over 2.5 million years ago. Ancient peach stones discovered in China prove that peaches were in China at least 7000 years ago. People have worked for centuries to create the modern peach. Peaches became what we eat today as a result of efforts to change the fruit into a larger and sweeter fruit with a much smaller stone.
Watermelon is one of the most common fruits during the hot summer. The pink juicy and delicious part covered by a hard skin is also the result of centuries of continuous development. In the 7th century Indians had already begun to plant watermelons which made their way to China in the 10th century. Watermelons reproduced quickly because they had a large number of seeds (种子). They were, however, smaller and less sweet than moden melons. Fruits with fewer seeds and more juice were developed in the 17th century as a result of European farmers experiments. That is how we ended up with the delicious watermelon today.

The ocelot is also known as the “Painted Leopard (豹)”. It is a kind of medium-sized wild cat found in South America, Central America and Mexico. There are many interesting facts about the ocelot.
Spots (斑点) and stripes (条纹) mark an ocelot’s fur. The fur pattern is different for each ocelot. The shapes and colors of the fur are pretty to see, but ocelots don’t want to be seen. The fur helps them hide in trees. That makes it easier for them to move towards their prey (猎物) very quietly without being seen or heard. The fur also helps ocelots hide themselves from hungry animals when it’s time for ocelots to have a short sleep. With the fur, they can rest in trees or other thick leaves comfortably during the day.
Mostly found in forests, seldom do ocelots climb trees, though they are excellent climbers. Ocelots feed mainly on the ground. Ocelots are small animals compared to jaguars (美洲豹). Almost all of the prey that ocelots hunt is far smaller than themselves. These fast hunters eat small monkeys, small deer, rabbits, birds, fish, and so on. Studies suggest that the ocelot follows and finds prey by following its smells.
Ocelots are good swimmers and have good vision (视力), including night vision. During the night, they like to hunt along open roads. Ocelots are very territorial (领域性的) and enjoy being alone. An ocelot will fight hard, sometimes even to death, to guard and protect an area of land that it believes to be its own. However, an ocelot will sometimes share its land with another ocelot.

How I solve problems
Everyone will meet problems in their lives. Let me tell you how I solve problems.
First, I will try my best to solve them as soon as possible because I take them as challenges. Second, when I can’t come up with solutions, I will turn to my parents and friends for advice. With their valuable and creative ideas, I can solve the problems more easily. Third, when I run into problems, I sometimes go out for a walk or listen to some soft music. Exercise and music make me relaxed. Last but not least, never lose heart. It s normal to fail.
What matters is that believe in yourself and don’t give up.
