Beijing Opera (京剧), more commonly known as Peking Opera to westerners (西方人), is seen as the national opera (国粹) of China. Having a history of about 200 years, it is regarded (被认为) as a culture symbol of China.
In 1790, Kunqu from Anhui came to Beijing. Its actors absorbed (吸收) Beijing dia-lect vocabulary (方言词汇) into their performances (表演), which drew people’s attention. So Kunqu was seen as the main opera form(形式) in Beijing .
In 1828, Qinqiang Opera began to appear on Beijing stages (舞台). By sharing and combining (结合) with the AnhuiOpera, this Qinqiang Opera gradually (逐渐地) became the other parent of the Beijing Opera.
From 1845 to 1894, Beijing Opera got a rapid development. There were many excel- lent performing actors, such as Mei Lanfang, Shang Xiaoyun and Xun Huisheng. Among (在……中) them, MeiLanfang was the first to introduce (介绍) Beijing Opera to foreigners (外国人) and gave many successful performances in foreign countries .
In ancient times, Beijing Opera was performed mostly on stage in the open air or teahouses. Because the orchestra (管弦乐队) played loudly, the performers developed a style of singing that could be heard by anyone. People like to watch Beijing Opera because it is a good combination of singing, dancing, acting and acrobatics (杂技动作).
Roles◆“Sheng” are the leading male (男性的) actors. ◆“Dan” is the general term in Beijing Opera for female roles. ◆“Jing” are the face-painted roles. ◆“Chou” refers to (指代) clowns characterized by a white patch (白斑) on their noses.

It’s important to learn things about protecting environment. Here’s a 4Rs rule for us.
·Reduce
If you want to reduce waste, you should use things wisely. A large number of trees are being cut down to make paper. If everyone uses paper carelessly and then throws it away, soon we would not have any trees left. Some other things are also being wasted, and people don’t know what to do with waste in big cities, so it’s necessary to reduce waste.
·Reuse
You should always think of reusing the things before throwing them away. Give your clothes or things you don’t use to the poor. In a family, you may pass such clothes on to your younger brothers or sisters.
·Recycle
Bottles, cans and paper can easily be recycled. By doing so we save lots of time and money, for example, cola cans are sent to a factory, where they’re smashed flat(压平) and smelted(熔化), and the metal things are made into new cola cans.
·Repair
If one of the legs of your table is broken, you’d better repair it rather than throw it away. If you want to change for better ones, it’s better for you to sell the old ones or give them to other people who can use them after doing some repair.
12.What does the “Reduce” rule mainly require us to do
13.In a family, what should you do with the old clothes

To encourage students to raise their hands in class, Hu suggests that teachers should repeat the question, then try to guide and encourage students to offer their answers. Hu also advised students not to be shy, but brave enough to try.

But now I am enjoying learning English. I have come to realize that it doesn’t matter if you don’t understand every word. One of the secrets of becoming a good language learner is to practice a lot. I often watch English programs on TV and listen to English songs. I’ve also joined the English Club at school to improve my spoken English. And my favorite way to learn new words is to read English magazines. I take lots of grammar notes in class. In order to practice my writing, I keep a diary. Everywhere in the world there are different ways of behaving. When we meet someone, everything we say and do expresses our cultural background. So if you want to get on with someone from another culture, it helps to understand something about these differences.
Even how we stand depends on our culture. English people talk to each other at an average(平均) distance of 130cm, while Italians chat at an average distance of 80cm. So Italians can think that English people are unfriendly because they stand too far away! And English people can think that Italians are too close.
Touching is also cultural. The French touch much more than Americans. A French couple may touch 100 times in half an hour while an American couple may only touch twice! And French teenagers touch each other much more than American teens.
