Brody Ridder attends The Academy of Charter Schools in Westminster, Colorado. When he got his yearbook(学校年刊),he went up to people and asked them to sign his yearbook but most of them refused. He collected only two or three names from classmates and two notes from his teachers. So, Brody wrote a yearbook note to himself, “Hope you make some more friends.”
Reading that note broke his mother's heart. She took a photo of the note and posted it to a Facebook group for parents at the school. The post made its way to three high schoolers; Simone Lightfoot, Logan South and Joanna Cooper. They spent hours discussing the problem and finding ways to help. “It's so fun to have everyone sign the yearbook, but for this kid few people have signed their names in his yearbook. It's just heartbreaking,” Lightfoot said. They all started planning that the next day they were going to sign this kid's yearbook.
The three rounded up as many students as possible to sign Brody's yearbook even though none of them had ever met the three high schoolers. According to the teens, people were lining up to fill the blanks in Brody's book. Many of the more than 100 signatures included paragraphs with words of encouragement, advice and even phone numbers. And then right after that, everyone in the class started signing Brody's yearbook.
The teens said they hope the small friendly act can encourage other kids to be kind. “It makes me feel better now. I don't know how to explain it. It makes me feel better from the bottom of my heart,” Brody said. “It makes me feel like there's hope for the school, there's hope for humanity and there're a lot of good kids in this world,” his mother said.
24. Why did Brody write “Hope you make some more friends.” in his yearbook

Over the past four decades, more than 450 butterfly species have been hit by the falling numbers. In the US alone, the number of monarch butterflies(黑脉金斑蝶)has seen a drop of 80%,from scientists recording millions of them in the 1980s, and only 29,000 in 2020. It's part of a wider possibility across the insect group. In 2017, scientists in Germany raised alarm bells after finding that insects had fallen by more than 70% in 30 years.
For farmers, monarch butterflies pollinate(授粉)a very large percentage of food crops. It is very important to protect them because their disappearance could have a huge economic influence. Butterflies are also helpful in the coal mine for other insects, as it is easier for them to feel the environmental change, and relatively easy to record.
Leading environmental organizations have been working hard to find new ways of recording the number of butterflies. As of now, there is no long-term data to develop good protection methods. The scientists wanted to address the challenge that long-term recording programs worldwide have faced: they are focusing on training locals as insect experts, which requires much money. They came up with a new method to the problem. In Yasuni National Park, they hired park rangers(护林员)who were trained and then carried out recording. The rangers were able to recognize butterflies with an 85% success rate, which is important for these kinds of recording programs to be successful.
Compared with other recording projects, this study represents a long-term solution. “Our method increases the chance of recording in the long term by reducing the money spent on it such as wages," said lead author Maria Checa. “Furthermore, it also offers opportunities for public organizations to achieve their environmental goals.”
28.How does the author develop the first paragraph
A.By telling a story.
B.By listing numbers.
C.By showing possible results.
D.By discussing different reasons.
29.How are butterflies different from other insects in feeling the environmental change

B.They are lazier.
C.They are slower.
D.They are more inactive.

A.Discover.
B.Solve.
C.Invent.
D.Balance.
31.What's Maria Checa's attitude towards the new method

B.Disapproving.
C.Positive.

Charles Darwin's notebooks were first reported missing to the public in 2020. An anonymous(匿名的)person has returned Darwin's two notebooks to the Cambridge University Library. The notebooks, which include Darwin's 1837 Tree of Life introduction, were returned to the library last month in a bright pink gift bag. “My sense of relief at the notebooks' safe return is great and almost impossible to express," said librarian Dr.Jessica Gardner.
The notebooks had been missing for long, while librarians had supposed they had just been misplaced. The library plans to put the notebooks on show in July as part of a coming exhibition(展览)called “Darwin in Conversation ”. The Tree of Life is said to show Darwin's thinking before he completed On the Origin of Species. “Objects like these help with our understanding of the history of humans,” said Stephen Toope, a professor at Cambridge.
The library said the notebooks were first removed in 2000 from the Special Collections Strong Rooms, home to the rarest and most valuable things. A usual check in January 2001 found that the small box having the notebooks was not returned to its right place. After a number of searches throughout the library over the years, the notebooks were not found. Gardner arranged a more careful search in 2020,led by experts who conducted fingertip examinations. The team searched the whole Darwin Archive, which includes more than 180 boxes. After these efforts failed, they had the result that the notebooks had been stolen.
Local police are pleased that the notebooks have finally been found. “We share the university's delight that these priceless notebooks are now back where they belong, “a Cambridge police spokesman said. “Our investigation(调查) remains open and we are following up some lines of questions.”
32.When was the two notebooks' loss first reported to the public
A.In 1837.
B.In 2000.
C.In 2001.

33.What can be learned about the notebooks from paragraph 2
A.A librarian misplaced them.
B.They were lost at an exhibition.
C.The library did nothing to get them back.
D.They were important for us to understand the human history.
34.What will the local police do in the following days
A.Dig out more valuable things.
B.Find more information about the notebooks.
C.Open a right place for the notebooks.
D.Celebrate the return of the notebooks further.

I have a 6-year-old boy,Sam. He is autistic(患自闭症的).Thus, dining out can be terrible. Though he loves to eat out, he dislikes the loud noise in a restaurant. He has a method to solve it: overpower(压倒) all noise with a much louder noise of his own.
This begins what I think of as fighting tables: neighboring parties raise their voice followed by Sam raising his until the loudest point of the noise is reached, making us quite unpopular with other diners.
Faced with a possible long-time dining alone, I decided to teach my son table manners with his favourite chocolate cake at a new modern cake shop early one Tuesday night.
To my joy, we arrived at an empty cake shop. Everything went well until two women entered. Neatly dressed in a simple way, they were two tables away from us. I felt a sense of bad luck coming.
The women began to chat, paying little attention to us. Sam happily took this as his start to talk loudly and overpower them. I asked Sam for a quiet voice, but unluckily Sam had left that voice at home. I looked at the neighboring table, knowing we wouldn't go unnoticed much longer. I planned to ask Sam to eat quickly and leave. Sam, who usually has food unhurriedly, refused to accept the sudden idea of fast dining, and he kept talking endlessly.
“SHUSH!”I said, a little angry. Sam laughed loudly as his reply. “Be quiet!” I could see that the two women were now watching us.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
