One Friday, Mrs. Maple asked her class to write a story. "Use your imagination!" She cried. "You can write your story about anything."
Kenny looked confused. "A story " he thought. "What could I possibly have to write about I don't know any stories." The bell rang to announce the end of the school day. All the kids took their schoolbags and went home.
The next day, Kenny sat on the couch with a pad of paper and a pen in hand. He tried to think of a story to write for Mrs. Maple. He thought and thought, and then he thought some more.
"I just don't have any imagination," he thought to himself. "I cannot think of a single thing to write as a story." Mum was always busy with the housework and his elder brother would laugh at him if he went to ask for help.
The warm sun was shining through the window, making him sleepy. Kenny sat there thinking and thinking, and soon he nodded off and fell fast asleep. As he slept, Kenny began to dream about fantastic things.
First he dreamed that he was a world-famous doctor, saving a lot of people and curing illnesses. He had a magic medicine which could make Grandpa get strong enough to play with him in the garden again! Then he dreamed that he was in a UFO, talking to strange but friendly space creatures. Then he dreamed that he has been shrunk (缩小) to the size of a mouse by an evil scientist. In his tiny state, he had to find a way to foil (挫败) the plot (阴谋) of the mad scientist!
Kenny dreamed wonderful and exciting things until his little brother, James, woke him up.
"What were you dreaming about " he asked.
Kenny told James the wonderful dreams. James enjoyed the stories. Suddenly, Kenny knew that he had all kinds of stories in his imagination. He could write about one of his dreams!
